Swine flu: Precautionary measures

Sri Sri has urged people not to panic. Ayurvedic experts prescribe the intake of the following herbs to boost the immune system against swine flu:
Amla (gooseberry)
Tulsi (basil)
Neem
Honey
AIIMS, NIMHANS: Three-fold enhancement of immunity through pranayama and Sudarshan Kriya.

1. Wash and clean your hands thoroughly using soap and water frequently.
2. Sleep/ rest adequately.
3. Drink plenty of water and other fluids.
4. If your immune system is strong, there is less chances for infection. Keep the following things
in your mind:
a. Regular practice of pranayam, meditation, Sudarshan Kriya enhances immune system.
b. Alcohol weakens one’s immune system. Stay away from it.
c. To fight infection, strengthen your body through a nutritious vegetarian diet.
5. Keep physically active through moderate exercises, walking, yogasanas etc.
6. Ensure more air circulation in the living spaces of your house.
7. Avoid crowded areas as much as possible.
8. Use Eucalyptus oil (Nilgiri oil) drops on a handkerchief or mask.
9. Herbs like tulsi (basil), amla (gooseberry) and amrut help to prevent swine flu by fighting
against infection and increasing immunity. (Dosage: 1-2 tablets twice daily for adults, and 1 tablet twice for children.)
10. Herbal tea made of tulsi, ginger and haldi (turmeric) can also be used.
11. Seek medical advice and care, if infection is suspected.
