Gurudev, how do I deal with the imperfections around me?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Leave a little room for imperfections.
Imperfections exist at three levels; physical, mental and emotional, i.e., body, thought and emotions. If you don’t accept the imperfections on the physical level, you become more and more imperfect on the mental and emotional level.
This acceptance, of a little bit of imperfection on the periphery, allows you to be more patient, more calm and ensures that you at least maintain the inner perfection.

Gurudev, I am interested in some things and passionate about others. What should I follow? My interest or passion?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Passion is the biggest driving force in your life, but it should be kept in the right place. Your passion should go through the filter of your intellect and wisdom, then it will work miracles for you.
Gurudev, what is Kundalini energy? How do we use it?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Our life itself is Kundalini energy. Kundam is the body or pot, and the energy inside that is the Kundalini energy. If this energy was not there, we would not be able to do kriya or anything else. All our experiences are due to the the kundalini energy within us.
Gurudev, people say that having a relationship between the ages of 13 to 18 is wrong. But according to science, it happens naturally?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
It doesn’t happen naturally, it happens due to stimulation. When you keep busy and don’t pay attention to stimulation, it won’t happen.
See, a tree has many mango fruits; you should allow them to ripen a little bit before you pluck them. If you pluck a mango while it is still small and try to ripen it, it doesn’t taste nice. When it grows to a big size, and ripens, then it is good. So, for four to five years, bear with all the hormonal changes happening inside of you, which is driving you crazy and making you rebellious. One has to pass through this phase.

Gurudev, if we are being born again and again, when will this cycle of rebirth stop? How do we bring it to a stop?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Through contentment. A deep sense of contentment and happiness within will stop the process of rebirth.
Gurudev, my family is very dedicated to God, then why do I have so many problems? I have dropped out of college, my health is quite bad. How much more should I lose to win?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Well, you have come here, and that is a very good beginning.
Firstly, when you have a problem in front of you, it appears to be so big because you are only concerned with your own problem. Open your eyes, when you see that others have bigger problems, your problems become much smaller.

Secondly, wake up and see, you only get problems for which you can find solutions.
For example, the size of a dog’s tail will only be as much as it can carry. A dog will not have an elephant’s tail, which it cannot even lift. Similarly, all your problems are your tails, which you can wag a little bit; that means, there is a solution for all your problems. And some challenges come only to uplift your spirit.

My husband said that he wants to see a change in me when I come back from the ashram. What should I do about that?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Yes. Make your smile bigger. Definitely, everybody will expect that from you when you come back from the ashram. Be a little extra kind. You can also tell them that I want to see a change in you, so you go to the ashram.
Gurudev, my family wants me to get married but I am not able to find any boy of my choice. I told them until I talk to you, I wont take any decision. I am not finding any good boys.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
You have spoken to me now, so go and make the decision (laughter).
If you have to marry, speak to the boys, and see who is suitable. You are not able to find any good boys? Does that mean you are very good? Goodness is in everyone, look for it. If the boys are not good, you make them good. From my viewpoint, everyone is good only. As long as there are no bad habits, they are good.
Dear Gurudev, I am a farmer and no girl wants to marry me. I have a younger sister and even for her we reject boys who are farmers. When will farmers get respect in society?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
First, you start respecting yourself. Don’t think that because I am a farmer, I am not getting respect. Stop asking for respect. Whatever profession you are doing, you respect yourself, and you will see how everybody else does that.
Gurudev, how do I identify the enemy inside of me, and how do I conquer him?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Identifying the enemy is the most important thing. Anything that does not let you stay peaceful and happy is your enemy. But sometimes in the process of trying to overcome this enemy, we may get caught deeper within it. Hence, at such times, it is better to pray and surrender.
